Sewer-Storm drain Supervisor

JOB TITLE: STORM DRAIN/SEWER SUPERVISOR

DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC WORKS

PAYROLL: SCALE = Supervisor

REPORTS TO: PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR/ASSISTANT DIRECTON

 

SUMMARY:

Ensure the safety and productivity of crews performing work related to the City of Hernando ditches, sewer systems, and storm drains

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:

Coordinate daily checks of equipment being used by crews

Assign daily tasks to be performed by crew

Generate daily JSA (job safety analysis) for each job assigned

Responsible for inventory of parts and supplies needed for storm drain and sewer repairs

Coordinate inventory of back fill material (sand, 610 gravel, etc.) with water supervisor.

Coordinate landscaping needs after repairs are made

Tracking of street cut repairs needed

Instruct crews of repair practices to be used

Coordinate and execute monthly sewer cleaning schedule

Tool inventory for utility crews

Be available for emergency call outs

Knowledge of Emergency Management Plan

Inventory sewer station replacement parts

Tracking of sewer blockages and spills

Instruct crews on proper PPE (personal protective equipment) to be worn

Knowledge of trench safety (REQUIRED)

Knowledge of storm drain and sewer conditions to recommend replacement.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

All field service technicians in sewer maintenance

All field service technicians performing storm drain repairs

 

EPERIENCE:

Minimum 5 years’ experience operating excavator and skid steer. Knowledge of ditching, shooting grade with transit, and installing-repairing damaged sewer and storm drainpipes.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work outdoors in all weather conditions. Providing directions to crew, making onsite inspections/troubleshooting. Hazards are in frequent but may include exposure risk to untreated wastewater, fumes, dust, moving mechanical equipment parts, extreme temperatures, maintenance and repair of pressurized water and sewer systems, inadequate lighting, confined spaces, trenches, loud noises, and exposure to traffic. Normal safety precautions are taken into consideration for these hazards, as well as for a variety of daily physical demands.

 

REGULAR ATTENDANCE IS AN ESSENTIAL FUNCTION OF THIS JOB
